I am currently working on a research project for my English class. The topic that I will be researching is a social problem, that in my opinion is not very much cared for by others. I will be researching about people with food allergies, and the severity of their allergic reaction due to the food that was consumed without the realization of it.
Some things that I wonder about is
1. Do the owners of restaurants/workers take food allergies as a serious matter?
2. How many precautions do people with food allergies have to take when going out to eat?
3. Are the labels accurate when it comes to consuming food with potential harm to the people eating it?
4.How severe are the allergic reactions of the people who consumed food they are allergic to?
5. What can restaurants and other dinning place do to reduce an incident of allergic reactions?
6. Why do people develop food allergies?
7. Are cooking utensils properly cleaned off? Ensuring that if there were to be food that someone was allergic to, is completely washed off.
Evaluating these questions for my research topic, I think that number 1,3,5,6, and 7 will be useful in my essay.
My topic is important because, there are many people in the world, (including myself )who have severe food allergies, and I think that it is very important to take precautions about what we put into our bodies. Any little bit of food that I am allergic to will cause a severe reaction. When I go out to eat, I have to be especially careful with what I order, and sometimes it's hard to know with what the cooks cooked with. One never knows if the skillet that was used still contains food that was previously cooked. Even the slightest bit of food could cause an awful allergic reaction, which is painful, and scary at the same time.
I am studying people's severe food allergies because I want to find out what restaurant owners and other people who do not struggle with food allergies in order to help the reader help the ones who suffer with food allergies to minimize incidents.
Good research questions. You might add: "Do food handlers have any training related to food allergies?"
